From around the world, leaders commented on the relevance of this historic day.  President Obama said, “Honoring the victims and survivors begins with our renewed recognition of the value and dignity of each person. It demands from us the courage to protect the persecuted and speak out against bigotry and hatred.”

Pope Francis remarked, “Auschwitz cries out with the pain of immense suffering and pleads for a future of respect, peace and encounter among peoples.”
